One man killed, six cops injured in Vancouver

One man is dead and six Vancouver police officers were taken to hospital following an altercation that involved the use of “chemical agents” in an attempt to subdue him.

It happened in the 3600 block of South East Marine Drive.

Vancouver Police isn’t saying what the disturbance was, except there was an altercation.

Ralph Krenz with the Independent Investigations Office.

“The officers engaged the affected person and a struggle ensued near Marine Drive and Joffre in Burnaby. Medical assistance was rendered at the scene, however the affected person didn’t survive his injuries.”

Two officers were taken to hospital with significant injuries and four officers were taken to hospital with minor injuries. All of the officers have since been released from hospital.

The IIO was advised by the VPD and will be taking conduct of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
