Man dies in vehicle rollover on Highway 401 : Police

A fatal crash on Highway 401 at Markham Road has claimed the life of a man in his 20’s.

The vehicle was heading westbound on the highway at the time of the collision.

In a later statement, OPP said the man’s Mazda 3 was found with extensive damage.

“It appeared that the driver of the Mazda lost control near the off ramp to Markham Rd,” police said, adding the car mounted the grassy median and came to rest only after it struck a rail.

Officers briefly closed the highway’s westbound collector lanes as a part of their investigation of the incident.

OPP is appealing for witnesses.
