Dead pitbull found in N.E. Calgary dumpster, investigation launched

The Calgary Humane Society is investigating after a male “pit bull type dog” was found dead in a dumpster in the northeast community of Sunridge.

The Calgary Humane Society says the black and white male pit bull type dog was found in the 2900 block of Sunridge Way on September 19, with no identification.

Investigators believe the animal was four or five years old.

“We’re not releasing injuries at this point just because we’d like to hear from the public as far as what may have happened to this dog. We do have veterinary input coming, but certainly I can say it looks like a suspicious death,” Brad Nichols, Manager of Cruelty Investigations for the Calgary Humane Society, said.

They are asking for the public’s help in identifying the dog’s owner.

Anyone with information on the dog or who he belonged to is asked to call Calgary police or contact Crime Stoppers.
