Alberta Motorcyclist caught going 246 kilometres per hour in Banff National Park

A 23-year-old Calgary man is facing criminal charges after police allege he was riding his motorcycle at 246 kilometres per hour in Banff National Park.

The speed limit in the area is 90 km/h.

RCMP didn’t start a pursuit, but believe he continued east at over 180 km/h.

Eventually, officers in Canmore found him and they say the motorcyclist did “the right thing” and pulled over.

With spring knocking on the door, Mounties are once again asking motorists to obey speed limits and wear the proper equipment.

In a release, they say “at these speeds, death is all but a certainty,” adding innocent people could also be killed in those crashes.
