Confirmed: Body found in Sterling ID’d as Jeremiah Oliver

The body found yesterday off Route 190 in Sterling was positively identified today as Jeremiah Oliver, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

The five-year-old Fitchburg boy was last reported having been seen in September.

Oliver’s disappearance was discovered in December when school officials alerted the Department of Children and Families. The DCF later found that a caseworker assigned to the Oliver family had missed required monthly visits since April 2013.

The case prompted sharp criticism of DCF, leading to the firing of that caseworker and two supervisors. Early says no other information will be available until after an autopsy is performed.
