Donovan McNabb spends day in jail for DUI

Former NFL quarterback and Mount Carmel star Donovan McNabb was released Thursday from an Arizona jail after serving a one-day sentence for a DUI arrest late last year.

Records released by West Mesa Justice Court show McNabb served his time Wednesday and was released about 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

The arrest goes back to January. An online court document lists the case type is “traffic criminal,” but exact details of what led to the citation were not immediately released.

TMZ Sports reported that McNabb pleaded guilty to DUI in a deal with prosecutors on March 27 and, in exchange, he was book into the detention facility on Wednesday.

Later, well-known Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio issued a statement that read, “I have had other high profile athletes who have been incarcerated with no problems and this latest athlete follows that same pattern.”

The six-time Pro Bowl quarterback, who went on to play for the Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings after being traded by Philadelphia, is now an NFL analyst for “FOX Sports Live.”
