A 29-year-old woman from Halifax is dead after the snowmobile she was driving smashed into a tree.
The woman was driving on a groomed trail at about 3 p.m. when she crashed into a tree, said RCMP spokesman Cst. Mark Skinner.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kings District RCMP, Springfield-East Dalhousie Volunteer Fire Department, and EHS responded to the crash.
“She was with a group of snowmobilers. There was a male on the back of her snowmobile, who had some minor injuries. He was asked by EHS if he wanted to be attended to, but he declined,” Skinner said.
The woman was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Skinner said.
The RCMP also extended its appreciation to the Crossburn Snowmobile Clubs for its assistance.
The investigation is ongoing.
