A fifth case of raccoon rabies in Hamilton area

Canada Journal has learned that another racoon infected with rabies has been discovered near Hamilton, bringing the total to five in the last week.

The Ministry of Natural Resources says it will drop another 150,000 packets of bait in a 25 km radius in areas where the raccoons were found.

The fifth raccoon was found in Cayuga.

To date, the ministry has dropped more than 45,000 baits around the Hamilton area since discovering the disease, earlier this month, in a racoon that got into a fight with two dogs in the back of an animal control van.
