Salah Abdeslam: ‘Brother of Paris Attack Suspect’ Urges Him to Surrender

The brother of Europe’s most-wanted man, Salah Abdeslam, said he didn’t know whether his brother is an extremist or not, but wants him to turn himself in to authorities.

Mohamed Abdeslam, who was arrested at the weekend but released yesterday without charge, was speaking outside his home in the Molenbeek area of Brussels when he said he and his family had no idea his brothers could have been involved in the attacks in which at least 129 people lost their lives.

The council worker said: “We didn’t know. Neither us nor our family.

“They’re big boys, they’re adults we don’t ask them for their timetable whenever they leave the house.

“We don’t know where they are right now.”

Talking about his brother, Salah, who is currently Europe’s most-wanted man, he said: “We don’t know with all this tension whether he’ll dare turn himself in.

“But you have to remember he grew up here, he studied here, he was a normal boy.”

Abdeslam said his parents were “in shock” and “don’t really know what happened” but the he and his family were “very moved by what had happened”.

He said: “We’re thinking of the victims and their families but you have to understand that we have a mum, a family and above all he’s still her son.”

Meanwhile, French cops have found the hotel in the Paris suburbs where the gang stayed before going on their murderous rampage through the city on Friday night.

Their rooms in the Appart City Hotel in the Alfortville area of Paris were found littered with syringes, empty pizza boxes and chocolate leading to speculation that some of the attackers may have been taking drugs.

The search continues for Salah Abdeslam who was reportedly seen near the Belgian national football stadium in Brussels causing Belgium’s friendly against Spain to be cancelled tonight.
