Bedford Teen caught driving almost twice the speed limit on NS highway

A newly licensed driver won’t be at the wheel for a while after Nova Scotia RCMP clocked him going nearly 100 kilometres an hour over the speed limit on Sunday night.

An RCMP traffic officer clocked the car at 199 km/h in a 100 km/h zone at about 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, police said in a news release. The car, which had several teenage passengers, was pulled over near Lower Sackville. The driver was ticketed and his licence suspended immediately for a week.

A conviction for the offence carries with it a $2,418-fine and six points on the driver’s record.
