Many onlookers gathered today in Halkett Bay Marine Park in Howe Sound to watch the sinking.

Its been a controversial plan.

An environmental group opposed the sinking, but last month the courts ruled the sinking could go ahead.

The federal court ruling said the ship met international standards.

The plan to sink the Canadian warship has been 7 years in the making, but the Artificial Reef Society of BC has not been succesful in its plans until now.
