CBC has suspended the two senior executives who managed the Jian Ghomeshi file months before it exploded into view last fall, including one of the disgraced radio host’s primary champions.
Senior executives Chris Boyce and Todd Spencer are on leave “until further notice,” according to an employee memo.
Monique Marcotte will assume Spencer’s responsibilities while Cindy Witten will take over for Boyce.
The CBC has said that Boyce and Spencer were two of the three executives who interviewed “Q” employees about the behaviour of the show’s host.
Since that investigation, the CBC has commissioned an independent probe into the Ghomeshi situation.
According to the CBC, Boyce and Spencer didn’t leave voluntarily and their leaves are related to the Ghomeshi affair.
Ghomeshi has been charged with four counts of sexual assault and one count of overcoming resistance, choking.
He is out on $100,000 bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 8th.
