A Very Windy Christmas On The Way (Video)

Santa is in for a wild sleigh ride on Wednesday due to a wind warning that covers much of southern Ontario, including Toronto and the GTA.

A system moving in from the south will bring periods of rain throughout the day Wednesday as temperature rise to nine degrees. Winds will be from the south for most of the day around 20 km/h.

Environment Canada says there is even the risk of a thunderstorm later in the afternoon. This evening winds are expected to increase dramatically to 60 km/h gusting to 90 km/h prompting Environment Canada to issue a wind warning for southwestern Ontario. Areas along the north shore of Lake Erie could see winds top 100 km/h.

A rainfall warning is also in effect from Sauble Beach to Tobermory.

As the temperature drops to one degree overnight, the periods of rain will become flurries, with a possible two centimetres falling before morning.

Thursday will continue to be windy with gusts up to 60 km/h from the west. There is a 60% chance of flurries through the day Christmas day.
