Montreal teen facing terrorism charges : RCMP

A 15-year-old Montreal boy is facing terrorism charges after allegedly stealing undisclosed items on behalf of a terrorist organization.

The teenager was allegedly planning to leave Canada “to engage in terrorist activity abroad,” the Mounties said in a news release.

The RCMP did not reveal any details about the case, citing the age of the accused and an ongoing investigation. The force also said it will not discuss the grounds for laying charges.

“The RCMP is relentless in its pursuit of those who would seek to participate in terrorist activity,” Assistant Commissioner James Malizia said in the news release.

“We are determined to take action to protect Canadians and to keep our communities safe and resilient.”

Police are asking anyone with information about terrorism-related activities to contact the National Security Information Network at 1-800-420-5805 or their local police.
