Hamilton boy, 6, dead after incident in industrial area of Hamilton

A six-year-old boy has died after a piece of steel fell on him in an industrial area of Hamilton.

Paramedics say the boy suffered severe head trauma and a broke leg.

He was without vital signs when emergency crews arrived at the scene on Imperial Street, in the Sherman Avenue North and Burlington Street East area, Sunday afternoon.

The boy’s father was with him at the time of the incident. It is not immediately clear why they were in the building where the incident occurred.

The boy was taken to Hamilton General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Hamilton police say the boy’s death is being investigated by both the coroner and the Ministry of Labour.
