A recent study from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development shows that four New England states, including Maine are among the top 10 states with the best quality of life.
The study compared nine factors that contribute to well-being including health, safety, education, and income.
According to the study Maine’s Employment rate is 72.7 percent, which is the 11th highest in the country.The average household income is $28,333. The homicide rate is 1.88 per 100-thousand people, which is the 8th lowest in the country. The voter turnout rate in Maine is 68.6 percent which is the 9th highest around the nation.
The study also found that Maine homes have an average of nearly 3 rooms per person, something that people value highly.
Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont were also in the top ten.
