One man dead after stabbing near Eglinton and Dufferin

A man has died and a woman was injured after a stabbing on Eglinton Avenue Tuesday night, Toronto police said.

Emergency responders received a report of the incident on Lanark Ave. just after 10 p.m.

One male victim was pronounced dead on scene, and a female victim was treated for minor injuries and not taken to hospital, according to Toronto Emergency Medical Services.

Detective Sgt. Steve Ryan said police were interviewing “many witnesses” and canvassing for possible video of the incident. He was optimistic that police would have a suspect name by later in the day Wednesday.

Eglinton Ave. remained closed for several hours between Glenholme Ave. and Oakwood Ave. east of Dufferin St. for a police investigation.
