A bus transporting the North Central Texas College softball team back to its Gainesville, Texas, campus was hit by a semi truck Friday night, killing four and injuring more than 15, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Meagan Richardson, 19, of Wylie, Katelynn Woodlee, 18, of Windom and Jaiden Pelton, 20, of Telephone all died at the scene and Brooke Deckard, 20, of Scurry, died later at a Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma hospital, a report released by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Sidney Kirk, 18, of Corsicana also was taken to Paul’s Valley General Hospital where she was treated for undisclosed injuries and later released, according to the report.

The report says the accident happened just after 9 p.m. on Interstate 35 at mile marker 47 near Turner Falls when a northbound truck tractor, semi-trailer crossed the highway median and struck the southbound bus, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Capt. Ronnie Hampton said.

The report did not indicate how many people were on the bus.
Posts on the North Central Texas College Facebook page requests prayers and say the school will release a statement later Saturday.

Southern Nazarene University sports information director David Noblett tells The Oklahoman that North Central was scrimmaging SNU earlier Friday.

Authorities say the bus was returning to Gainseville.
