McDonald’s headquarters evacuated after scare : Police

McDonald’s corporate headquarters was evacuated Friday morning after authorities were notified about a suspicious package at the building in west suburban Oak Brook.

Police were called at 10:42 a.m. about a suspicious package at the building at 2111 McDonald’s Dr., according to a statement from McDonald’s.

About 1,300 people work in the building, which was evacuated by McDonald’s security “in an abundance of caution,” according to the statement.

About 1 p.m., the DuPage County Bomb Squad determined the package was “safe,” containing only a digital media player, according to police.

The building was reopened at 1:30 p.m., according to the company.
