Aretha Franklin : singer gets no respect in restaurant

The Queen of Soul said she didn’t get any R-E-S-P-E-C-T at a restaurant in Canada after her sold-out show at Artpark in Lewiston this past week.

A spokesman for the singer says the situation unfolded at a Johnny Rockets restaurant on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.

The spokesman said Aretha ordered a hamburger after performing a sold-out show. But he says the server screamed at the Respect singer, saying she couldn’t sit down to eat because she had ordered takeout.

Aretha said in a statement that the restaurant worker was “very rude, unprofessional and nasty.”

A Johnny Rockets spokeswoman said the franchise owner is sorry for the actions of “a new and very young employee.”

She said the owner has spoken with the employee and has clarified his take-away policies.
