Stuart Scott : ESPN anchor’s cancer battle

Long time ESPN anchor Stuart Scott who is currently battling from cancer was honored with Jimmy V Perseverance Award on the annual ESPY Awards on Wednesday night.

After a moving video presentation about Scott’s battle, he took the stage and shared his views on cancer and the fight he faces daily.

“When you die, that does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and in the manner in which you live,” Scott said. “So live. Live. Fight like hell. And when you get too tired to fight, lay down and rest and let somebody else fight for you.”

Scott said in the week before Wednesday’s awards show, he underwent four surgeries during a 10-day hospital stay.

At the end of the speech, he called for his younger daughter to come on the stage to give him a hug and she obliged.
