Justin Cardinal : Man survives bear attack in northern Alberta

A 22-year-old man was treated for lacerations to his head after he managed to escape a bear attack in northern Alberta.

The victim’s father says the incident happened on Friday night near Calling Lake — located about 200 kilometres north of Edmonton — after his son’s all-terrain vehicle became stuck.

Justin Cardinal ran about five kilometers to a nearby road after the attack where bear hunters found him bleeding with lacerations to his face. After the hunters called the police, they drove the young man to his home where the STARS Air Ambulance picked him up. He was flown to an Edmonton hospital where he was treated for facial lacerations.
