Toronto grandmother scores $50M Lotto Max jackpot

A 63-year-old married grandmother in North York, part of Toronto, has become Canada’s latest multimillionaire. Sophie Rizavas discovered Saturday she had a winning ticket in the May 9th $50-million Lotto Max draw.

Rizavas wasn’t working, but says she used to work as a cleaner at the women’s college hospital, and cleaning for a couple of other private companies around the city.

What does she plan on doing with all that money?

Not much.

Rizavas plans on taking her whole family on a holiday, but won’t change her house or her car, or buy anything extravagant.

And she plans on helping people with the money, but she couldn’t say doing what exactly.

She has two daughters and 2 grand children.

Rizavas immigrated to Canada from Greece 44 years ago.
