California Highway Patrol Rescued a Chihuahua from a Busy Highway (Video- Photo)

California Highway Patrol officers rescued a Chihuahua stuck on the center divider of a Northern California freeway.

The rescue occurred Friday on Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek during rush hour.

“Although [CHP Officer John] Fransen said he didn’t know how the dog ended up on the freeway, he said, it’s likely that someone left the animal there,” reports CBS San Francisco. “As sad as it sounds, it actually happens pretty often,” Fransen says.

The dog was unharmed and is currently at an animal shelter. Numerous adoption requests have been received, however, the owners are currently being sought first.
