Naomi Deluce Wilding : Liz Taylor’s granddaughter speaks

Her famous grandmother Elizabeth Taylor passed away three years ago and now Naomi deLuce Wilding opens up about the iconic actress in the May 2014 issue of Glamour magazine.

“Living with my grandmother was like living with an auntie,” she told Glamour for its May issue, out April 15. “Most grandmothers would say, ‘You can’t leave the house wearing that!’ Mine would see my bra strap showing, and say, ‘Just take your bra off.’”

In addition to being a free spirit and definitely less strict than most parental figures, Taylor was also very generous.

“If you were a woman in Elizabeth Taylor’s life, she’d likely dress you up. She knew she was lucky to have the things she had, and a big part of how she enjoyed them was by sharing them,” she added. “In my grandmother’s house in Switzerland, she had a bomb shelter that she’d turned into her wardrobe. Everybody would go down to pick out something to wear. If it looked good on you, chances are, she’d let you keep it.”

Wilding, 39, said being shy, Taylor “pushed me to be daring” and would help make her outfits more “eye-grabbing.”

“She believed in the power of love and wasn’t afraid of being hurt,” she said of her grandmother who was married eight times to seven men. “A lot of people hold their heart too close; she believed in giving it out. I think she went into every one of her marriages hoping it’d last, but the circumstances of her life were extreme.”
