Dwayne Johnson Dead? Social Media Posts Claiming The Rock Died

The Rock aka Dwayne Johnson is dead. At least that’s what the Internet is saying. However the famous wrestler and actor didn’t die. He’s just the victim of an Internet death hoax. Johnson is just fine.

It all started when on Wednesday, a Facebook page called ‘R.I.P. Dwayne Johnson‘ attracted nearly one million of ‘likes’. Those who read the ‘About’ page were given a believable account of the American actor’s passing:

“At about 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday (April 09, 2014), our beloved actor Dwayne Johnson passed away. Dwayne Johnson was born on May 2, 1972 in Hayward. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”
Hundreds of fans immediately started writing their messages of condolence on the Facebook page, expressing their sadness that the talented 41-year-old actor was dead. And as usual, Twittersphere was frenzied over the death hoax.

On Thursday (April 10) the actor’s reps officially confirmed that Dwayne Johnson is not dead.

“He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet,” they said.
