Skyrim Game of Thrones Intro (Video)

The Game of Thrones theme music and intro music is one of the most recognizable openings on television, and it will be returning to our televisions over the weekend when the HBO hit series returns with the premiere episode of season four.

The video, entitled “Thrones,” was created by digital artist Brady Wold and follows the same format as the TV series’ famous credits sequence. Beginning with the city of Whiterun it shifts around the game world map, raising its prominent cities out of the ground like miniature game pieces. In order, it visits Whiterun, Solitude, Markarth, Riften and Windhelm. According to a description by Wold, the video was a side project he’s been working on “here and there” in-between his work.

“This started off as an exercise to kill time one afternoon about two years ago, never intending it to be a finished product,” explained Wold. “I continued to work on it here and there throughout various freelance projects, internships, and other personal projects until it became a burden.”

While the video itself runs only about a minute and 41 seconds in length, Wold says that its actual creation took “thousands of hours” spent “working and rendering.” Just based on the results, it might be safe to that it was time well spent.
