Pet Medications Could Harm Children, Says New Research

If your pet is taking any type of medication, be sure to store it away from small children.

A new research warned children at home may be at risk of poisoning from medications meant for the family pet.

Experts looked at more than 1,400 calls made to the Ohio Poison Center regarding vet medicines. They found almost 90-percent of the children involved were under five. Many picked up medication spit out by the pet, or got into the pet’s food which had medicines.

Doctors at Yale reported one in four teens using e-cigarettes have tried intensifying vapors by a technique known as dripping, which releases e-liquids directly onto heating coils. Health officials said the practice could increase toxins and health risks.

Children exposed to harsh cancer treatments may suffer effects long into adulthood. Doctors in Ohio found survivors had fewer romantic partners and were less likely to have children of their own.
