Florida nightclub mass shooting: Victims identified, bodies removed

Bodies removed from Orlando nightclub after worst mass shooting in US history.

The last of the bodies were slowly removed late Sunday from a popular Orlando gay club after a gunman sprayed the helpless crowd with bullets in violence, killing 49 people and devastating a city famous for family-friendly theme parks.

Authorities say suspect Omar Mateen opened fire in the Pulse Orlando club, taking hostages.

At one point, he called 911, pledging allegiance to the Islamic State group. Police eventually shot Mateen dead.

The City of Orlando has released names and ages of victims of the nightclub shooting whose next of kin have been contacted. The list will be periodically updated on http://www.cityoforlando.net/blog/victims/ as those who died are identified and families and loved ones notified.
