Actress Katie Holmes returning to TV with new ABC show

After more than a decade, actress Katie Holmes will be gracing our TV screens once again!
Holmes, who has stepped out of the spotlight to be a full time mom, is confirmed to have signed on with ABC to star in a yet unnamed drama series, according to E! News.

Holmes, 35, portrays the Audrey Hepburn-inspired socialite, Ann, opposite Rufus Sewell. Sewell, 46, plays Phillip, one of the socialites who present conflict in Ann’s life and marriage.

The show is penned by screenwriter Richard LaGravanese, who also wrote the 1991 film “The Fisher King,” adapted 1995′s “The Bridges of Madison County” and more recently, wrote “Behind the Candlebra” starring Matt Damon and Michael Douglas.

The actress last appeared on television in 2011 and 2013, when she made a guest appearance on “How I Met Your Mother.”

Holmes has two films expected out this year, “Mania Days” a romantic drama and “The Giver,” a science fiction film co-starring Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep.

Holmes’ last starring television role was as Joey Potter on the popular series “Dawson’s Creek,” from 1998 to 2003.

Her new show is expected to premiere in the fall.
