Daughter charged after mother mowed down in parking lot, police say

A 43-year-old Toronto woman has been charged with murdering her mother after the latter woman was hit by a car in a Leon’s parking lot in North York on Tuesday.

Police allege 65-year-old Eleanor Campbell was “deliberately struck by a vehicle” in the parking lot of the Leon’s Furniture store at 10 Suntract Rd. southeast of Hwy. 401 and Hwy. 400 around 2 p.m.

She was pronounced dead on scene and is the city’s 20th murder victim of 2016.

At 9:20 p.m., Michelle Campbell, 43, of Toronto, the victim’s daughter, was arrested and charged.

Anyone who may have been in the parking lot at the time of the incident is asked to contact investigators at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
