21-year-old charged with first degree murder in Edson: RCMP

Edson RCMP have charged a 21-year old man with first degree murder after the body of a teen was found in an apartment on Friday morning.

Edson RCMP responded at 10:20 a.m. to an apartment in the town after receiving reports of a deceased youth, RCMP said in a news release.

Investigators determined the death was a homicide and on Friday night made an arrest in connection with the killing.

Tyrell James Perron, 21, is charged with one count each of first-degree murder, indignity to human remains and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Perron is scheduled to appear in Edmonton provincial court at 10 a.m. on March 15.

Officers with the Edmonton major crime unit are assisting with the investigation.

An autopsy is scheduled for next week in Edmonton.
