Burglar lurks under bed for days “Police”

Burglar hides under a bed for three days at New Jersey home.

A home burglar allegedly snuck into a residence in Spotswood and hid there for three days until he was discovered by the homeowner, according to police.

Jason Hubbard snuck into the Middlesex County home in May and then hid under a bed in a spare room, Spotswood police announced this week. He charged four cell phones using an outlet under the bed, police said.

Hubbard has been charged with burglary, criminal trespass and theft of services (because he used electricity in the home), according to Spotswood police.

According to police, the resident of Ellenel Boulevard reported the intruder on May 10, three days after police say Hubbard entered through an open door as the homeowner took out the garbage.

The resident called police after he heard a noise coming from the bedroom. When the resident looked under the bed, he found Hubbard and immediately called police.

Hubbard was sent to the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center with bail set at $50,000.

Officer Nelson Nichols handled the investigation.
