One dead after submerged vehicle recovered near Kinley, Saskatoon : RCMP

RCMP say a woman escaped alive, but the man she was driving with died when their pickup truck ended up submerged in a deep and icy creek Saturday night.

The vehicle, which had two occupants at the time of the crash, had lost control and went off the road at a bridge due to icy road conditions, said the RCMP in a press release.

Emergency crews were unable to rescue the man, who died at the scene.

RCMP are attempting to notify next of kin.

Several emergency crews were on the scene, including members of the Saskatoon Dive Rescue Team, who say that the current in the frigid water made conditions difficult for rescue.

Kinley is located approximately 55 kilometres west of Saskatoon.

Authorities caution drivers to be aware of inclement highway conditions due to snowfall and ice.
