State of emergency lifted in Saint John, Report

Officials with the City of Saint John say enough snow has been cleared in an area that a state of emergency can be lifted.

The city issued an update Sunday to say the cleanup was nearly complete in the Southern Peninsula portion of Saint John.

It says only five streets in that area remain under the constant parking ban.

Saint John has been under a local state of emergency since Tuesday after 30 centimetres of snow fell on top of the almost 100 centimetres already on the ground.

The city says crews have removed more than 7,500 truck-loads of snow since Tuesday.
