Joseph Pepin, Cara Duval, missing from North Bay hospital found in Quebec

Joseph Pepin and Cara Duval, two patients who escaped from a mental-health facility in North Bay, Ont.,​ have been located after they were injured in a head-on crash in Saint-Simon-de-Rimouski, Que.​

Sûreté du Québe says Duval, 37, and Pepin, 39, were taken to hospital in Lower St. Lawrence.

Police say Peppin was seriously injured, while Duval sustained minor injuries.

The pair was reported missing from the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Jan. 22.

Before being located, the couple was most recently spotted in Oxford and Truro, N.S., following sightings in New Brunswick.

Pepin and Duval — who also goes by Donnelly — were participating in the hospital’s Mental Health and Law program when they were granted off-unit privileges and went missing.

Sûreté du Québe says the couple will be handed to North Bay police as soon as they are well enough to travel.
