Three Saskatchewan men in hospital after being stuck in avalanche near Golden

Three people are in hospital after being caught in an avalanche Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the ski area near Golden — about 260 km west of Calgary — just after 2 p.m.

Resort spokesman Andy Brown said the slide happened in a backcountry area near the popular ski hill but not within its boundaries.

“Three people were apparently caught in the avalanche,” said RCMP Const. Kris Clark. “They have suffered minor to serious, non-life threatening injuries.”

Police don’t know what the three were doing in the backcountry area or what triggered the slide.
