Cst. Don Sinclair says the 26-year-old was pulled from the river after being in it for roughly two hours and was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.

Her son was in the water for almost half an hour.

“The child is still listed in critical condition. He was airlifted out of St. Joseph’s Hospital and to BC Children’s Hospital.”

The BC Coroners’ Service is now involved in the investigation, which includes figuring out why the pair went into the river in the first place.
