Brittany Maynard’s Husband Speaks Out in Interview (Video)

The husband of Brittany Maynard, who moved to Oregon to end her life with assisted suicide, has broken his silence.

Now 10 weeks after her passing, Dan Diaz talked about her suffering in the final days of her life and knowing it was “the right time” to go. Maynard had terminal brain cancer.

“We got up rather early and she was feeling a little weird,” he told People. “After a seizure, she’d be unable to speak for a while and when she did it was just kinda be gibberish.”

“So when we got up there was a little bit of that kind of gibberish talk. I said, ‘Let’s just sleep in,’” he said.

From there, they went on a hike with six of her closest friends and family members and their dogs.

“We went on a trail that she liked and it was a good morning. Then we got back to the house,” he continued.

Diaz, 43, called her passing “peaceful,” as she was surrounded by loved ones. She drank secobarbital, which her doctor prescribed, mixed in with water and continued talking until she eventually fell asleep and passed on about 30 minutes later.
