Lava rivulets pose potential risk to hawaiian village (Video)

A brush fire in Pahoa was triggered by lava on Tuesday, according to Hawaii County Civil Defense.

So far 150 acres have burned, but the flames are still about a mile away from the nearest community.

A fire break is in place to help stop the fire from spreading but the area is extremely dry making the it easy for the blaze to spread.

“So we are asking everyone to be aware we are having drier weather. That means in areas that are brush fire prone, we should all be a little more cautious,” said Hawaii Civil Defense Administrator Darryl Oliveira.
