Devin Rogers in custody after taking hostages in Oklahoma

KOCO-TV reports that police in Norman, Oklahoma, have taken the suspect into custody and no hostages were harmed.

Norman Police say they were called to a hostage situation Monday afternoon around 12:26 p.m.

Capt. Tom Easley, with the Norman Police Department, says they negotiated with an armed suspect who was holding three hostages inside the Nextstep building in Norman, located on the 1800 block of N. Interstate Dr.

Police say 29-year-old Devin Rogers was armed with a handgun inside of a law firm that deals with immigration law.

At this time, authorities do not know the motive for the suspect’s actions.

Nearly an hour after the situation began, 25 to 30 people who were inside the building were released.

Four hours after the standoff began, police announced the suspect was taken into custody.

According to Capt. Easley, the three hostages are safe.

According to Norman Police, since tomorrow is a holiday, charges are not expected to be filed by the District Attorney’s Office until Wednesday.
