Dog rescued after falling into hot tar (Video)

A dog that had fallen into a pool of hot tar in India was almost unrecognizable when rescuers got to him.

Volunteers from the Indian charity Animal Aid Unlimited found the creature rock-solid and stuck to the ground. Apart from blinking and shallow breathing the canine was unable to move.

Over the course of three hours the group massaged vegetable oil into the dog’s fur to remove the clumps of tar and eventually managed to free it.

The solidified dog was spotted struggling by the side of the road by a passer-by, who quickly called for help, but it is not known how long the animal had been there for.

The dog is recovering after the life-threatening ordeal and can now walk again.

Animal Aid Unlimited rescues more than 4,000 injured and abandoned creatures each year in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India.
