Catherine Goins : Woman killed mother, took her kids

A Tennessee woman was charged with murder after gunning down a northwest Georgia woman because she wanted the woman’s newborn baby, a sheriff said.

Catherine Goins lured 30-year-old Natalia Roberts to a friend’s home in Ringgold, Ga. earlier this month by saying she wanted to give the new mother some baby clothes, said Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk.

Catoosa County Sherriff Gary Sisk said Goins pretended to be pregnant and wanted to present the baby to her boyfriend as their child.

Investigators said after Goins shot Roberts in the head, she told them Roberts was an intruder.

Goins is facing murder, aggravated assault and tampering with evidence charges.

Channel 2’s Tom Jones spoke to Roberts’ mother, Lee Roberts Sharp, on Thursday.

“I want to be a good Christian, but I have hate in my heart. I have hate in my heart for the first time in my life,” said Sharp.

Sharp said her daughter loved her three girls and was very accomplished.
“My daughter was a loving, caring mother,” said Sharp.

Deputies said Roberts’ 3-year-old daughter was in the house when her mother was shot.

Sharp said the three girls are doing well and will receive counseling. She also said family will be taking care of the children.
