Two police officers stopped a car in which Tina Fontaine was a passenger on the last day the teenager was seen alive, CTV News is reporting.
Police knew Fontaine was on the missing persons list but released her anyway. She later made contact with her care worker before disappearing again, according to the report.
It was the last day Fontaine was seen alive.
On August 17, police pulled the 15-year-old’s body from the Red River wrapped in a plastic bag. Police say she was murdered.
The CTV report said a police field trainer and a recruit dealt with Fontaine. They are reportedly under investigation by the professional standards unit and have been put on “restricted duties. ”
