One man dead as road crew workers struck by car in Alliston

One road crew worker is dead after being hit by a pickup truck in Alliston. The 41 year old man and a woman were struck while painting lines on Victoria Street around 4 a.m.

OPP say the female worker suffered serious injuries but will survive.

Shortly after the incident, police located a vehicle nearby and a 32-year-old man was arrested and transported to a nearby station for testing. He has been charged with failure to remain at the scene of an accident and impaired driving causing bodilu harm.

Witnesses to the incident are asked to contact OPP at 705-434-1939.

“If you suspect that someone is driving or is about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1 and report it,” OPP Const. Paul Nancekivell wrote in the statement
